{Our life}

Some recent things happening around here lately...

1. Out of all the kids at Bob Hope Elementary, Gavin was clostest to the winning number. The school had a bunch of marbles(i think it was marbles) in a big jar. They all had to guess how many marbles were in the jar. Whoever was closest to the number would get 3 panda pennies. They can use panda pennies to buy things. He was ONE number away from the total number of marbles. It was around 750 marbles. He was so proud of himself. I was proud of him too.

2. The boys are doing awesome in their 100 mile club. They stay after school every once in awhile and they can run for as long as they would like. They need to reach 100 miles by the end of the school year so they can get a trophy. They already received a shirt when they reached 25 miles. They usually run close to 3 miles each time. I realize that my boys know how to push themselves hard. They want to do the best they can do, and they always do GREAT.

3.Gavin brought home a bunch of silkworms from school. We put them in a container and that way we get to watch them eat and spin their cocoons.  A few started spinning. There were 2 cocoons already made and two more were in the process. I put it out on the front porch so they could get some nice fresh outdoor air. There was a small hole on top. When we came back from picking the boys up from school, the container was tipped over and the cocoons and all the worms were GONE...ALL were gone except ONE cocoon. I have no clue what happened. Gavin and Tanner were soo soooo sad. I felt really bad. Maybe a bird came and pecked them out of the container?

4. That leads me to the next topic. We really wants a pet. Really bad. The boys won't stop asking for a pet, and now i am in a mood for a dog OR a cat would be fine with me too. Cat's are sooooooo much easier than dogs. I really want a pet. We all want one except for shane. If we can't convince him then we won't be getting one.  The thing is, its hard to get them back to the USA. It costs a lot of money and its a process that i don't think we will want to deal with. So, we have thought to wait until we move back. But i am soooooo in a mood to get a pet i can cuddle.

5. I am trying to catch a hop out of here. If you don't know what that means, here you go....They fly missions out of here all the time. They will go to various places like Hawaii, Australia, Guam, phillipines, singapore, south korea, alaska, california, mainland japan, etc. They often have room on flights to take people with them. A C-5 or a C-15, or a KC-135 are usually the ones you can hop onto. It's free. The patriot(for people PCSing) flies every saturday. It's just like a commercial flight. But that can be hard to hop onto. It all depends on your category and how long you have had your EML paperwork turned in. It's a crazy process. And they only give 3 days notice as to what is flying out of here.  So, it's a last minute decision. You have to have all your bags packed, you go to the terminal on the day they are flying out for roll call time. Shortly after roll call they let you know if you made it on the plane or not. If you didn't make it, then you leave the terminal with all your luggage(you have to have all your luggage at roll call), go home and you keep your bags packed just to wait for another flight that will pop up, hopefully, in the next few days. It's such a waiting game, and you NEVER know what will happen. Sometimes you get on the flight, you go through security and while your waiting to board, they might have last minute changes, and will boot you off the flight if they no longer have room for you. Or sometimes you get their for roll call, and they suddenly cancel the flight. It's stressful. It's free, but stressful. When it's not during the holidays or during PCS season, then it can be fairly easy to catch a flight. But i hear the flight missions are slowing down because of the budget cuts. That means they have less flights going out. I am nervous about this whole process. I hope i can get out of here. The past 4-5 days they have had nothing.

6.Shane and I are taking a Nutritarian class. It's awesome, and reminding us of all the wonderful benefits of being a nutritarian. A nutritarian is someone who eats good nutrient dense foods, and stays away from foods that lack good nutrients. That means we don't eat much meat, dairy, sugars, butters or oils. I am amazed how much i have been learning. Don't get me wrong, we eat out once a week to our hearts content, and we have sweets once a week, at least. But for the most part, we really try to stick to our new lifestyle. I remember in the beginning thinking it would be too hard to eat plant based foods. It's actually really easy...it just takes some time trying new recipes, and adjusting. And when you understand WHY you want to eat this way, it makes it a lot easier to adjust. We have seen great results, as have so many other people we have talked to.  It's all very interesting, full of information, and i LOVE it. I am so intrigued with the body and the way it works. With Jaydon starting school this fall, maybe i can take some online classes!! :) ooohhhhh the possibilities. :)

7. The boys are starting basketball in a couple weeks. Unfortunately, they will be missing1 month out of the 3 months of basketball because of our trip to the states. That is, IF we end up getting out of here.

8. I am going to brag on shane for a moment...because i can. :) He passed his PT test with a score of about 99% !! It was like 98.6% or something like that. That means he gets an extra day off of work. Exciting. :) He has blossomed into a GREAT runner. I hope he keeps it up.

9. I do a little running here and there, but mostly i am doing circuit training right now. I like it because it kicks my butT. Speaking of, i need to go do that right now.

10. Elder Nelson came to speak with our district 2 sundays ago. It was a very neat experience. I don't think i have ever been that close to an apostle before. I happened to be in the hallway when he took a random bathroom break in the middle of church. We nearly brushed shoulders. :) I am so lame, i know, but it was awesome for ME. I wanted to sing in the choir just so i could be closer to him, and get a close look at him. I've never met an apostle, or anything.  I didn't end up singing because i realized it doesn't really matter if i am 5 feet away or 50 feet away...its all the same. I felt disappointed, but i knew it just didn't matter. Turns out i was able to get closer to him than i would have singing. haha!! and Shane just barely missed him in the bathroom. A couple seconds after shane walked out of the bathroom, Elder Nelson came walking down the hall straight for the bathroom. He shouldn't have hurried so fast. how hilarious would that have been?:)
