HaPpY 2nd BiRtHdAy TaNnEr!!!

Tanner, here you are on your second Birthday! Yesterday. You are the cutest little thing!

Here you are trying to blow out your candles. You had a hard time doing it so we helped you. :) We made you a Halloween cake. It was so yummy and you ate your piece all up!

You got a HUGE dinosaur from zsa zsa, papa, and Auntie Holly. They also gave you a whole set of dinosaurs. Mommy and daddy got you a car speed racer set, and we also got you a little submarine to put in the bathtub with you that has a little motor so that it can move around in the water.

THINGS YOU CAN SAY AT 2:

1. "It's hot in here."

2. "Where's Gavin?"

3. "Mom, have to go peepeepoopoo."

4. "Mom, I hungry."

5. "Mom, want cereal."

6. "Freaking out." (he got this from me...i can't believe he picked up on it. I must say it a lot)

7. "Plane"

8. "Mom, help me."

9. "Mom, wipe me."

10. "Where?!?!"

11. "WHAT?!?!"

12. "Mom, It's a truck!!"

These are just a few things you say. You weigh 28 lbs. and you are 34 1/2 inches tall. You like to repeat a lot of what we say. You love to sing twinkle twinkle little star. You just love to sing. You sing along to the music on the radio and to Josh Groban. Your favorite things right now are playing with cars, trains, and dinosaurs and you love spiderman. YOu don't have anything spiderman stuff, but you know who he is in the store and you always yell "SPIDERMAN!" You are pretty easy going and laid back. You are full of smiles. You smile all the time. You LOVE to wave HELLO to everyone you see, especially when we are at the grocery store. If they don't look at you you say HELLO really loud. You love when people notice you. You go poopoo on the toilet and peepee every once in awhile. You love playing with your brother. You are very loud! You like to yell when you talk(you get that from my side). You always wake up at 6:30 a.m....crazy kid. You have the cutest little pot belly ever. You love bathtime. You love to eat. You LOVE your big brother sooo much! You LOVE getting into bed every night because your big brother is in the same room as you. I can't believe you are already two years old. Time has flown by and i can't imagine how fast the next year will fly by. I love you my little munchkin.

Birthday presents...

Whenever Gavin see's a toy he likes he always says, "I wish i could have that for my Birthday!" I just say, "I know you do." And the conversation ends at that. Well, today Auntie Holly hung out with us. Here is the conversation he had with her.
Gavin: "I am getting a race car for my Birthday!" His birthday is Christmas day and i never told him he was getting a race car for his birthday.
Holly: "Oh you are!?"
Gavin: "Yeah! You have to buy it for me!"
Holly: "hahahahah".

Indians Game and Columbus Pictures...

At the Indians GAME!

They loved the fish, manatee's and all the water animals. It was their favorite part. We were able to touch the sand dollars, sea urchins, and hermit crabs.

Riding the choo choo train.Waiting for the animal show to start!Petting the goats and sheep.

It was such a fun weekend. The Columbus zoo is so awesome. It is second on my list of favorite zoo's...San Diego being my first. Columbus would be a great place to live. Thay have a lot to do and it is pretty nice. We went to Columbus because Shane had a Dental Convention. We decided to have a little fun while there and we sure did! :)

The Monster Leg...

Gavin is sitting next to me as i do some editing on a recent photoshoot. He starts kicking the desk and this is the conversation...
Mom: Gavin please stop kicking the desk.
Gavin: That wasn't me.
Mom: Then who was it?
Gavin: Maybe it was Tanner.
Mom: Tanner is upstairs taking a nap.
Gavin: Maybe it was a monster leg.
Mom: I don't see a monster, where did he go?
Gavin: He is right there(he points towards the wall).
Mom: I don't see him.
Gavin: He is right there(pointing still toward the wall).
Mom: I don't see him.
Gavin: I see him(he starts giggling like he knows something i don't know). I hear him crying in the night.

Hhhmmmm.... interesting.

More Food for Thought...

Again, here is something in the book Eat, Pray, Love that i really liked...

"People think a soul mate is your perfect fit, and that's what everyone wants. But a true soul mate is a mirror, the person who shows you everything that's holding you back, the person who brings you to your own attention so you can change your life. A true soul mate is probably the most important person you'll ever meet, because they tear down your walls and smack you awake. Soul mates, they come into your life just to reveal another layer of yourself to you, and then they leave."

And one other thing i liked that a Guru said... "that you should never give yourself a chance to fall apart because, when you do, it becomes a tendency and it happens over and over again. You must practice staying strong, instead."

Pictures from August when we had a full house...

Okay, this picture stinks, but it is the best one. I made him a round Better than Anything cake. Gavin wanted me to make a "circle" cake. This is Shane's favorite cake. We made Cafe Rio for him for dinner, which is his favorite as well. We also snuck into the Dental school the day before his b-day and decorated his booth a little, left some candy for him and a framed picture of the boys and I for him to leave in his booth.. It was fun actually being able to surprise him. He is VERY hard to surprise b/c he always finds out! rrrrgghhhh....Well, not this time!
Decorated the house for his Birthday.
The kids had tons of fun with the balloons.
Jumping on our bed while talking online with Grandma and Grandpa.
Making an absolute mess of himself at dinner like usual. Seriously, we strip our boys when it's time to eat dinner. We have no choice b/c this is what happens.
They wouldn't stop jumping on the couches so we put this blanket down on the ground to distract them and they loved it.
Bathtime with all three boys!
I was watching all the kids one day and when Karsyn woke up i decided to play dress up with her. I put her hair up and put my necklace on her and put her in one of the cute shirts of many that she now has. It was so fun. She even liked it! She got all excited when i put a necklace on her and did her hair. It was soooo fun! :) I need a little girl around here!

Americans... (warning:long post)

I am readin this book right now called Eat, Pray, Love. It is about this woman who gets a divorce and tries to find herself again. Her way of finding herself is by traveling to India, Italy, and Indonesia. She says a lot of interesting, but true facts in here about Americans and life. One thing she talks about is Americans and how we can't seem to RELAX. Here is what she says that i find to be so true of many of us.
"Generally speaking, though, Americans have an inability to relax into sheer pleasure. Ours is an entertainment-seeking nation, but not necessarily a pleasure-seeking one. Americans spend billions to keep themselves amused with everything from porn[(hope this doesn't offend. And unfortunately this is so true)] to theme parks to wars, but that's not exactly the same thing as quiet enjoyment. Americans work harder and longer and more stressful hours than anyone in the world today. But as Luca Spaghetti[(an actual person)] pointed out, we seem to like it. Alarming statistics back this observation up, showing that many Americans feel more happy and fulfilled in their offices than they do in their own homes. Of course, we all inevitably work too hard, then we get burned out and have to spend the whole weekend in our pajamas, eating cereal straight out of the box and staring at the TV in a mild coma(which is the opposite of working, yes, but not exactly the same thing as pleasure). Americans don't really know how to do nothing. This is the cause of that great sad American stereotype--the overstressed executive who goes on vacation, but who cannot relax."

Then she goes on to talk about how Italians relax... ""il bel far niente"(the beauty of doing nothing) has always been a cherished Italian ideal. The beauty of doing nothing is the goal of all your(Italians) work, the final accomplishment for which you are most highly congratulated. The more exquisitely and delightfully you can do nothing, the higher your life's achievement....; l' arte d' arrangiarsi--the art of making something out of nothing. The art of turning a few simple ingredients into a feast, or a few gathered friends into a festival. Anyone with a talent for happiness can do this...."

Then she goes on to talk about Americans again..."For me, though, a major obstacle in my pursuit of pleasure was my ingrained sense of Puritan Guilt. Do i really deserve this pleasure? This is very American , too--the insecurity about whether we have earned our happiness. Planet Advertising in America orbits completely around the need to convince the uncertain consumer that yes, you have actually warranted a special treat. This Bud's for You! You Deserve a Break Today! Because You're Worth It! You've Come a Long Way, Baby! And the insecure consumer thinks, Yeah! Thanks! I am gonna go buy a six-pack! Maybe even two six-packs! [(Now, since the majority of those who read this, including myself, don't drink just replace that with something else we do...for example, I am gonna go shopping and spend lots of money)]. And then comes the reactionary binge. Followed by the remorse. Such advertising campaigns would probably not be as effective in the Italian culture, where people already know that they are entitled to enjoyment in this life."

Interesting. Anyway, hopefully none of us fall in this category. If we do, we need to take a step back and do a little reevaluating. Why don't we Americans feel entitled to relax? Maybe there are some of us who don't feel guilty and that is great. What is your secret? I find myself feeling guilt a lot if i am not spending almost all of my time with my kids. I find that i need to chill out and realize i AM entitled to sit down on the couch and read for awhile or even just veg for a while. Don't get me wrong, i definitely do do these things. But while i do these things i feel guilty. My mind races of things i COULD be doing. Just thinking about it makes me want to yell at myself "CHILL OUT MAN!" Why can't i be like the Italians? aahhhh. Anyway, she also said of her family, "We had a lot of enjoyment in my family, a lot of laughter, but the walls were papered with to-do lists." I have seen The Nanny when she has gone into homes where the parents have the to-do list for their kids with EVERY hour filled in with something. My gosh it just looks tiring! Maybe some of us need to take a chill pill and try to remember the things that REALLY matter. What is the need that we Americans have to make sure we are always busy? I find that when i feel like i need to keep busy, and am constantly going and going, it makes life more stressful than it needs to be. We shouldn't make life more stressful than it already is. We don't need to fill in every hour with something. Kids make life busy and chaotic, this i know, but don't make it more chaotic than it needs to be. This post is one meant for me and me alone. I don't have anyone in mind while typing this. I am just writing down my own thoughts. Sort of just talking to myself. :)

Baby #3...

That is right. Baby # 3. Are we ready? Yes. We've been in the baby mood. Truly. And since we just aren't ready for more responsibility that a new human life brings we did the next best thing. We got a dog. And now i am out of the baby mood(hopefully for awhile). Our family is now complete! We brought him home a few days ago. He is a little Shih Tzu. I grew up with a shih tzu so i knew that he would be a good dog for our home and for our kids. My mom has one right now and Gavin just loves her. The boys love their new dog, Bentley. He is so fun. He loves to chase Tanner. He tries to attack the bottom of Tanner's shorts and loves chewing on his feet. Bentley loves to tackle Gavin's face. Gavin will lay on his back and Bentley will nibble at Gavin's ears and climb onto his face. It is so funny. Our boys laugh so hard at him. When Bentley tries to bark it just sounds like a scream. The boys find it hilarious. We are excited about our new addition. He is our newest member and will be treated just like a little brother. Sort of. :) The most exciting part about it for me is watching Gavin and Tanner interact with him. They just LOVE him and it is so worth having a dog just to see their faces light up everytime they see him. He will only get to be about 5-8 pounds. Shih tzu's really don't shed much, which is really nice. They are the perfect house dog. We wanted a boxer, especially Shane, BUT it wouldn't have worked out right now. One day when we are done with the air force we will have to get one. That is Shane's dream dog. :) Anyway, this isn't our house, so a dog any bigger would not fly. :) Plus, little Bentley is so portable; we can easily take him anywhere with us. :) He is just sooooo cuddley and cute.

The Strange and Entertaining of Cleveland...

Okay, so we have seen deer across our street every once in awhile. Sometimes we see them prancing down the sidewalk just like another jogger on the street. Weird. Anyway, it is getting just too weird. Yesterday there was a deer in our backyard. We were standing 20 feet from him and he didn't even care!!! He looked at us, scratched his neck, leaned down to eat, and did it all over again. We moved and he didn't care. I grew up in Oklahoma, and there if a deer see's you from a mile away he is running from you. If an okie walks in his backyard and see's a deer he will shoot it and cook it for dinner. My dad and brother's went hunting for deer a lot. They were hard to catch in the WILD. I never in my life have seen deer who are not afraid of people! We saw a family of 4 deer about 3 times yesterday feeding on the grass across our street. I think they live in our little forest right next to our house. Then across the street there is a little creek and some more foresty area. I left the house and they were right there by the road eating the grass, or whatever is in the grass that they eat. Anyway, i had to stop for them so that they could slowly take their time crossing the street like they own it, just like the people of cleveland do. Deer are no longer the animal you see in the wild, they have now become a tame city animal not afraid to live among humans, taking strolls and jogs down the sidewalk, & jaywalking with stride and confidence.

Holly and I were going for a ride down Mayfield. In the lane next to us was this guy that had legitimate drum sticks. 'Drums' as in a band. He was blasting his music and confidentally beating the crud out of his steering wheel with his REAL drum sticks to the beat of the music. Who does that? He didn't care that everyone was looking at him wondering what in the world he was doing. It was really hilarious. I think i need to start bringing my video camera along with me for the rides so that i can record things like this.

When Mandi was here, my sister-in-law, we went to the gym to workout. One day a lady was waiting for Mandi to finish up on the weight machine. This lady stood right by Mandi waiting for her to be done and all the while this lady is dancing and singing to her music. Try to lift weights with some stranger dancing and singing right in front of you. I would be laughing, unable to finish what i started.

But this is what i love about Cleveland. People so willing to be themselves in public. It is very entertaining and makes life a bit more fun. :) Not only that, but seeing tame deer is very strange. Cleveland is definitely strange and entertaining.

Sort of Tagged...?

Well, i wasn't specifically tagged, but my friend Loralee tagged anyone who wanted to do this and i kind of wanted to so that i can learn a little about myself.... 6 Quirky things about me...

1.I can't stand white walls(in my own house), floors, or cabinets. In our next house we will have none of these. It is too hard to keep clean. Plus, i love a WARM feeling to my house. A homey feeling. And white doesn't provide my home with that feeling.
2.I have issues with my bed covers. When we are in bed i cannot stand if one side of the bed has more covers than the other side. I HAVE to fix it. OR if the kids are just playing around on the bed...if they get messed up it drives me nuts. I keep thinking about it until it gets fixed. I feel kind of OCD with that, but it is funny b/c i definitely don't think i am an OCD person.
3.I am obsessive about my teeth and mouth. No, i didn't pick this up after meeting Shane, i have always been this way. I will avoid dark drinks or anything that will turn my teeth darker. If i drink chocolate milk or dark soda, which i rarely do, then i drink it such a way that with every drink i make an effort not to let it touch my front teeth. I can brush my teeth longer than the recommended time, easily. The first thing i must do when i wake is brush my teeth. I refuse to kiss Shane before i have brushed. I know there are a few people who are the same way and it only makes sense. It is just gross to kiss with morning breath, but i do know there are people who don't care. It just grosses me out.
4.I have to workout. It is such a habit now that i just HAVE to do it. If i have gone more than 2-3 days without exercise then i can't think about anything else until i get a workout in. It is on my mind constantly, picking at me. I constantly think about how my muscles are going through atrophy, OR think about how i probably just gained 1 pound since i haven't worked out for a few days. Pathetic. I just don't want to be another statistic.
5. I LOVE clothes, as does most every girl. My clothes that i wear that day resemble the mood i am in. They also can make my day or break my day. I know, how can i let clothes make my mood? Well, i usually don't. I usually put on what my mood is. BUT i am not happy with a new shirt for longer than a few months. I don't know what it is, but i just get sick of it. NOW, since i have been married i don't have the opportunity to shop like i used to before...we are poor students now. BUT every few months i will go buy one new shirt...my recent one only cost $9.00. :) Clothes are a huge deal to me, so one day when we actually start making money i will be a shopper! A lot of my clothes i have had for years and thankfully i can still mix and match things up enough to where i feel like i am wearing a new outfit, though i really am not. On top of that, if i am wearing something i am sick of or don't like then i just have a bad day.
6. I have to have my blinds open. I NEED the light! I have to have sunshine otherwise i am blue. Shane likes to keep them closed to conserve energy or so people can't see in. I have to have them open all the time. If he closes them i go around and open them. I always win with this one! :)

OuR RaMbUnCtioUs BoYs!(will post pics later)

A Few Things That Gavin and Tanner Really Enjoy TOGETHER Lately:

1. Wrestling. They love wrestling each other. Tanner likes to go tackle Gavin. Gavin loves when Tanner does this, he thinks it's hilarious and Gavin loves to tackle Tanner, and Tanner takes it pretty good.
2. Bath. They love taking baths together. They bring their cars in the tub and slide them down the incline on the back of the tub. Then after all the water has drained they LOVE to slide on the bathtub floor on their bums. It is so funny. I used to do this as a kid, so it brings me back.
3. Trains. They have had the wooden Thomas the Train set for over a year and are just now getting into it. They put together their own track and love riding cars and trains over the tracks.
4. Bedtime. They sleep in the same bedroom now. They absolutely LOVE it. When they wake up in the morning sometimes they stay up their and just play rather than come down, and when they do that it is nice for me b/c i can sleep in longer. :)
5. Dancing. When we have music playing really loud, which is everyday, they love to dance around. I have a video of it and i will post it soon. It is so funny the way they dance!
6. Movies. They love watching movies together. It can definitely be a good babysitter.
7. Flashlights. They have these little flashlights that we got at Wal-Mart and they love going into the closet where it is dark and playing with them. They have tons of fun with them.

It has been so fun watching, as they get older, the way they come together and play. They love each other's company so much. They are very protective of each other too. It is so cute. I love it.
